MCPHERSON – The Central Kansas Crushers 10U baseball team played three games in McPherson over the weekend and won twice on Saturday over the August Knights and the Dodge City A’s before losing for the first time this season on Sunday to the Salina Spikes.

In game one on Saturday against the Augusta Knights, the 10U Crushers scored in each of the first three innings before knocking across five runs in the fourth to score a dominating 8-1 victory.

Hayden Gehring and Easton Diasio each recorded a pair of hits to lead the teams nine hit offensive attack. Zander Zahradinik hit for a double while D.C. Burns got a triple. The 10U Crushers dominated the base paths as they recorded 11 stolen bases led by Tracer Wells with three while both D.C. Burns and Easton Diasio each swiped two.

Hayden Gehring, Colton Griffin and Easton Diasio combined to hold the Knights to just 1 hit for the game as Gehring struck out five and walked just three in two innings on the mound.

The 10U Crushers had their hands full in game two when they scored a 10-5 win over the Dodge City A’s on Saturday. The Crushers scored a pair of runs in the first and third innings while adding three runs in each of the second and fourth innings, while the A’s made it closer by putting across three runs in the third and two more in the fourth.

While helped by the A’s committing six errors in the game, the 10U Crushers still pounded out seven hits as Hayden Gehring earned his second straight two hit outing. The Crushers stole a whopping 20 bases for the game with both Tracer Wells and Easton Diasio stealing four, while Hayden Gehring and Colton Griffin each swiped three and Jaxon Euwer had a pair of stolen bases as well.

Easton Diasio and Bentley Konen split time on the mound for the 10U Crushers as they combined to give up just four hits while striking out a total of six batters and giving up six walks.

The third and final game of the weekend on Sunday did not go well for the 10U Crushers as they suffered their first loss of the season to the Salina Spikes by a score of 8-1. The 10U Crushers could only manage to knock across one run in the second inning as the Spikes pitchers held the team to just one hit while they scored four runs in the third and another two in the fourth to put the game away.

Zander Zahradinik had the lone hit for the game while he joined Tracer Wells and Colton Griffin in getting a stolen base recorded.

Hayden Gehring wen the first 2.2 innings on the mound for the 10U Crushers as he gave up seven hits and six runs while striking out four and walking just one. Bentley Konen finished out the final inning and gave up three runs on three hits while striking out three.
