BROWN PITCHES FOUR COMPLETE GAMES!

MCPHERSON – The 16U Central Kansas Lady Crushers softball team had a very busy weekend with four games each on Saturday and Sunday while gaining six victories and losing twice.

Emma Brown was a stalwart for the Lady Crushers as she pitched four complete games and shared mound duties in three others.

The Lady Crusher wins came against the A-Shock, CG Fire, the Blues, the Salina Mudkatz, the Manhattan Optimist Monarchs and the 18U Blues while they lost to the 18U Lady Crushers and the Salina Pink Panthers.

Game summaries as well as team and individual stats from game changer are as follows:

GAME 1 – vs. Salina Pink Panthers, Saturday, June 27:

With a busy weekend ahead of them, the 16U Lady Crushers softball team opened up on Saturday with a 6-2 loss to the Salina Pink Panthers.

The Pink Panthers scored four runs in the first and another two in the third while the Lady Crushers could only manage one run in each of the first two innings.

Six different Lady Crushers got base hits, with Kyler Smith getting a stolen base.

Kailyn Olsen and Emma Brown went to the mound for the Lady Crushers and gave up just four hits and just two earned runs while striking out three.

GAME 2 – vs. A-Shock, Saturday, June 27:

Game two on Saturday went much better for the 16U Lady Crushers as they scattered seven hits to produce seven runs and earn a 7-1 victory over the A-Shock. The A-Shock did their part when they committed seven errors on defense.

Olivia Cheatham let the offense with a pair of hits while Livia Swift pounded out a double as the Lady Crushers put the game away with two runs in the third and three in the fourth.

Emma Brown went the distance on the mound for the Lady Crushers and gave up just four hits, one run and struck out six.

GAME 3 – vs. 18U Lady Crushers, Saturday, June 27:

Going up against the 18U Lady Crushers in game three on Saturday, the 16U Lady Crushers suffered a 4-3 loss after giving up three runs in the first and another one in the second. Despite pulling within one in the fourth with a couple of runs, they could not overcome the deficit.

The 16U Lady Crushers only had two hits in the game, one by Olivia Cheatham and the other by Kyler Smith.

Emma Brown pitched the whole game for the 16U Lady Crushers and struck out five while not giving up a single earned run due to three defensive errors.

GAME 4 – vs. CG Fire, Saturday, June 27:

In their final game on Saturday, the 16U Lady Crushers poured across four runs in the second inning and held off a three-run rally by the CG Fire in the third to gain a 4-3 victory.

Olivia Cheatham had two of the teams three hits to lead the offense.

Kailyn Olsen and Emma Brown split time on the mound and held the Fire to just three hits and two earned runs.

GAME 5 – Blues, Sunday, June 28:

In the first game on Sunday, the 16U Lady Crushers took full advantage of five walks and 11 errors by the Blues defense to score a 16-3 victory over the Blues. The Lady Crushers put seven runs on the scoreboard in the first inning and then piled on another nine in the second to put the game out of reach.

Olivia Cheatham and Kyler Smith accounted for two hits each of the team’s six total while Mallory Seidel-Pinson recorded three of the team’s six stolen bases.

Livia Swift and Emma Brown did the pitching and combined to hold the Blues to just two hits and one earned run while walking just one and striking out four.

Game two on Sunday was a close one as the 16U Lady Crushers scored twice in the second and four times in the third after trailing 2-0 after the first inning and then held on for a 6-4 victory over the Salina Mudkatz despite the Lady Crushers committing six errors on defense.

No Lady Crushers had multiple hits in their five hit offense while Emma Brown went the distance on the mound and gave up no earned runs to go with just one hit, three walks and three strikeouts.

GAME 7 – vs. Manhattan Optimist Monarchs, Sunday, June 28:

Scoring five runs in the first inning helped propel the 16U Lady Crushers to a 7-1 win over the Manhattan Optimist Monarchs in their seventh game of the weekend.

While Olivia Cheatham and Livia Swift each had a pair of hits for the Lady Crushers, including a triple by Swift, the big offense came from Taryn Coon who pounded out a home run while stealing a pair of bases as well.

Kaiyln Olsen pitched a complete game while giving up five hits, walking two and striking out one.

The 16U Lady Crushers closed out their busy weekend with a strong 6-0 shutout victory over the 18U Blues thanks to a four run third inning.

Taryn Coon, Kailyn Olsen, Kayleigh Arriola, Kyler Smith and Emma Brown each had a base hit while Arriola stole three bases and Coon swiped a pair.

Emma Brown pitch a complete game while giving up just two hits, walking a pair and striking out six in her shutout victory.
