SAMLAND, KAUFMAN TOP RETURNEES

MOUNDRIDGE – As the 2020 season gets ready to roll, the Moundridge High cross country team will be young and looking for improvement.

One big change will be the leader of the group as Andrew Scheef begins his first season as the Head Coach for the Wildcat harriers, a program entering just their second season of competition.

Junior Caleb Samland along with sophomores Landon Kaufman and Mac Unruh will be the core of the team and Coach Scheef thinks all three should compete for medalist honors at most meets and Samland should be strong enough to gain several top ten finishes during the season.

Freshman Daniel Dixon was on individual which the coach noted as a key newcomer to watch.

“This is just our second season and we will be looking for vast improvements,” explained Coach Scheef. “The boys team could be stronger with a second season of growth and training under their belts.”

The Wildcat harriers will kickoff the 2020 season on Thursday, September 3rd at Pretty Prairie and follow that up with a big test on Thursday, September 10 at Hesston, two meets which Coach Scheef says will give them a very good indication on how the rest of the season may pan out.
