TOWANDA – It was a very strong performance on Thursday for the McPherson High freshman (9th grade) volleyball team as they traveled to Towanda for three match quad and came home with three, straight set victories.

Against Andale, the freshmen Lady Pups scored back-to-back identical straight set wins of 25-16, 25-16.

With Wellington, McPherson had to fight off a diligent Wellington team to win the first set by just two points at 26-24 before putting them away 25-16 in the second set for their second straight set victory of the day.

With host Circle, the freshmen Pups once again powered their way to a straight set 25-15, 25-21 win and a perfect 3-0 mark for the day.

According to the freshmen Lady Pup Coach Halle McClure in her post match reflections, three individuals stood out on the stat sheet at the end of the day, noting, “Aislyn Soukup had a big day by leading the team in kills with 17 while Madi Moors had an awesome nine serving aces and Alexa Casebeer recorded 20 digs. Overall, we had a great night at Circle and played extremely well.”

The freshmen Lady Bullpup volleyball team will be back on the competitive court next Thursday, September 17, when they play host to a quad with Central Plains, Circle, and Mulvane.
