HUTCHINSON – It was a day of domination for the McPherson Middle School 7th grade volleyball teams as they straight set swept both Newton and Hutchinson on the road Monday.

The 7th grade Junior Lady Pup ‘A’ team dismantled both Newton (25-9, 25-11) and Hutchinson (25-10, 25-15) to remain unbeaten at 6-0 while the ‘B’ team raised their season record to 5-1 with wins over Newton (25-6, 25-5) and Hutchinson (25-23, 25-18).

“The girls did a great job this afternoon,” noted 7th grade Head Coach Abby Bradstreet when reflecting on the ‘A’ team efforts. “We had some girls move into new playing positions and they caught on quickly and did a phenomenal job adjusting to them! Our serving was the highlight of the night. Adelynne Strecker, Brooke Doile, and Karsen Burris all had solid serving streaks that helped us get the lead in both matches. We still need to work on staying down and ready and covering at the net, but the girls are getting into a really nice flow, and it has been so much fun coaching this group of girls. They work hard and have fun out on the court and it definitely pays off for them.”

When reflecting on the output of the ‘B’ team, Coach Chelsey McCasland said, “The team has settled into rotations that are highlighting players’ strengths and they are owning their roles. Strong serving tonight allowed us to stay on top. Shout outs for spectacular serving goes to Addysen Patrick with a total of 30, Elley Paulsen who served four in a row and allowed us to take the lead and the win in a tight first set against Hutchinson, and Aurelia Potter who had a total of 18 – four of which were aces. Our passing and competitive edge have improved greatly throughout the season so far – confidence and productive talk on the court will be our focuses moving forward. I love this group and feel like they are coming together really well! I loved all of the positive encouragement and how we pick each other up and have that ‘next ball’ mentality.”

Next up for the McPherson Middle School Junior Lady Pup 7th grade spikers will be on Monday, September 28th when they host a quad with Newton Chisholm Middle School, Concordia, and Salina Lakewood.
