GODDARD – The McPherson junior varsity volleyball team played last Saturday at Goddard in a tournament hosted by Goddard Eisenhower and came home with a pair of wins and one loss.

In the first match of the day for the Lady Bullpups, they suffered a straight set loss (20-25, 23-25) in a very tough, hard fought match with Wichita Kapaun Mt. Karmel.

McPherson then bounced back with a dominating straight set victory over Dodge City (25-15, 25-13) before finishing out the day with another straight set win over host Goddard Eisenhower (25-8, 25-22).

“Our girls competed well on Saturday,” noted Coach Katelyn Loecker in her post tournament reflections. “Against Kapaun-Mt. Karmel, we had too many missed serves and got stuck a few times in serve receive but the girls fought back from being down 14-20 to 23-24 before the final point was scored by Kapaun.”

Leading the team for the tournament were Kelcy Bergstrom who recorded 34 digs overall while Karter Alvord made 11 kills and Aimee LeBlanc added eight kills to go along with a team leading six serve aces.
