BROOKEVILLE – The Inman Teuton football team went on the road Friday to Ell-Saline and literally buried the home team by scoring 35 first half points before closing out a dominating 48-7 victory.

The win gives the Teutons an overall mark of 5-1 as they have now scored five victories in a row, all by at least 26 points. In fact, over the past five games the Teutons have now outscored opponents 239-27.

“We played extremely well in all three phases of the game,” noted Teuton Head Coach Lance Sawyer. “I was worried whether we would let up coming off the two wins against Plainville and Oakley, but we came out strong from the beginning.”

Inman put up 21 points in the first quarter with Jace Doerksen throwing two scoring passes to Derick Johnson and Eli Brunk that covered 36 and 50 yards respectively before Brock Sivils added another score on a one-yard plunge into the end zone.

Carter Brown and Kyler Konrade added scoring runs in the second quarter to give the Teutons a commanding 35-0 advantage heading into the halftime break.

Konrade took a pass from Doerksen and rambled 52 yards to the end zone in the third quarter, then after giving up a short touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to host Ell-Saline, Inman added one more score on a 25-yard dash by Harrison Brunk. Carter Brown connected on all six of his extra point kick conversions.

The Inman offense rolled up 510 yards on 45 plays and recorded 22 first downs in the process.

Jace Doerksen directed the offensive domination as he connected on eight of eleven passes for a whopping 232 yards and three scores, while Kyler Konrade ran for 61 yards on just nine carries, Harrison Brunk scooted for 59 yards on just only three carries, Kendyn Blank ran for 49 on four runs and Talon Welch rambled for 47 yards on his three carries led the rushing attack.

Doerksen connected with six different receivers on his eight completions, including a single pass of 52 yards to Kyler Konrade, 50 yards to Eli Brunk, 36 yards to Derick Johnson, and 20 yards to Kendyn Blank while Carter Brown and Tanner Heckel each had a pair of receptions covering 42 and 32 yards respectively.

Speaking of the offense, Coach Sawyer had plenty of praise to go around when he said, “Jace (Doerksen) was on fire to start the game and our offensive line was really physical. Cole Hase, Dairien Dawes, Dawson Mannebach, and Grant Thimmesch did a really good job getting our running backs to the outside and creating gaps. Our offense is so dynamic right now because we have so many guys who are able to make plays. We do not have to count on one guy to score or carry the load. We make their defense defend the entire field.”

Defensively, the Teutons held Ell-Saline to a mere 100 yards on 41 offensive plays, including just 22 yards passing and 78 on the ground as 15 different Teuton players put defensive numbers by their name in the stat sheet, led by Carter Brown, Kyler Konrade, Kendyn Blank and Eli Brunk who all totaled at least four overall tackles. Brown had two-and-a-half tackles for a loss of yardage as the Teutons totaled eight such tackles overall.

Concluding his post-game reflections, Coach Sawyer commented on the defense by adding, “As always, our defense was stellar from the opening kick. We got great field position on almost all our drives. Ell-Saline’s TJ Morrical is a good player and they have a good physical offensive line, but we did a good job keeping him in check until they got most of their yards and scored late in the fourth quarter.”

The Teutons will look to raise their win streak to six games on Friday, October 16 when they play host to Remington who will enter the game with a 2-4 overall mark after losing 42-21 to Sedgwick on Friday.
