LITTLE RIVER – The Little River football team improved their season record to 7-2 on Friday with a 56-0 hammering of Washington County in the opening round of the 8-Man Division I playoffs.

With the victory, the Redskins get another shot at Clifton/Clyde who handed Little River one of their two losses in week two with an overtime 42-36 win. Clifton/Clyde will bring a 7-1 record to the game after beating Bennington 46-0 in their opening round game.

As for the game with Washington County, it was never close as Little River put 32 points on the scoreboard in the first quarter and then closed the game out by halftime with another three scores and 24 points in the second quarter to give them the final 56-0 win.

Jayden Garrison led Little River by rushing for 108 yards and three touchdowns on just five carries while also throwing one pass and completing it for a 49-yard score to Braxton Lafferty. Garrisons three scores came on runs of 11, 44, and 23 yards. Graham Stephens added two scores on the ground with runs of 11 and 20 yards while finishing with 48 yards on five totes while also completing two of three passes for another 20 yards.

For the game, the Redskins rolled up 251 yards in total offense on just 24 plays while holding Washington County to only 24 yards on 29 plays.

The Redskin defense forced Washington County into an interception on their only pass attempt and caused three fumbles, all of which were recovered by Little River. Grant Stephens led the team in total tackles.
