SALINA – It was a rough day for the McPherson Middle School 8th grade girls basketball team as they went on the road Thursday and lost to Salina South 38-22.

“The girls have been working hard,” noted Head Coach TJ Jackson in his post-game reflections. “They have had some twists and turns thrown at them with this COVID-19 stuff. We do continue to see improvement in parts of our games, and the girls will keep working hard because that is just who they are.”

Cora Pavlovich led the offensive attack for the Junior Lady Pups as she hit for double digits with 10 points while Izabel Backhus contributed five.

Next up will be what Coach Jackson calls a ‘strong game’ against Newton next Thursday, November 19.

8th GRADE JUNIOR LADY PUPS ‘A’ TEAM SCORING: Cora Pavlovich 10; Izabel Backhus 5; Reese Buchman 3; Mallorie Cooper 2; Addie Harlin 2.
