8TH GRADE WINS, 7TH GRADE TAKES A LOSS

By William

In their final appearance before the Thanksgiving break, the McPherson Middle School girls basketball teams split a pair of games with Salina South on Monday with the 8th grade Junior Lady Pups getting a win while the 7th grade Junior Lady Pups took their second loss of the season.

The Middle School girls basketball teams will return to the court on Tuesday, December 1 when they play Derby.

Summary of both games:

8TH GRADE JUNIOR LADY PUPS SCORE 16-POINT VICTORY

In the battle with Salina South, the 8th grade Junior Lady Pups ‘A’ team scored a convincing 29-13 win to head into the Thanksgiving break with a big victory.

“We are very proud of the ladies,” noted Head Coach TJ Jackson in his post-game reflections. “We always ask the kids to just keep getting better and tonight they proved they are doing just that. Last time we played Salina South we lost by 16, tonight we won by the same.”

The girls were lead on offense by Cora Pavlovich as she hit double digits with 11 points.

Coach Jackson concluded his reflections by adding, “We switched up some things defensively and the kids executed them very well. Offensively, we kept it simple as we were without a starter, but all the ladies on the court were the most aggressive we have seen so far from the whole team. They did little things right like inbounds plays and we were patient in the zone defense and allowed them to make the mistakes. The ladies have a lot to be happy about after a full team effort win.”
