RETURNING STATE PLACER LUTTIG TO LEAD SMOKY VALLEY ON THE MATS

By William

LINDSBORG – Entering his 16th season at the helm of the Smoky Valley wrestling program, Head Coach Ben Elliott will be looking to build his 2020-21 team around three key returning seniors while looking to fill out the team enough to plug in at all the weight classes.

Leading the Vikings to the mats this winter will be senior Tanner Luttig who placed third (3rd) in regionals and then sixth (6th) at the state championships in 2019-20 while wrestling at 195 pounds.

Coach Elliott will have just two other seniors to help build the 2020-21 team around, as both Braunson Golden and Leroy Bean also return to the mats for Smoky Valley, wrestling at 145 and 220 pounds respectively though Coach Elliott has noted that Golden may move up several weight classes for the new season.

Smoky Valley will have just three big matches before the Christmas break as they open the season on Saturday, December 5 with a trip to Riley County before hosting Chapman on Thursday, December 10 and then traveling to always tough Hesston on Saturday, December 12.
