MOUNDRIDGE – Second quarter offensive woes sunk the Moundridge boys basketball team into a valley they could not climb out of as they lost by 15-points, 57-42 at home Friday to Lyons.

Following behind by five at 11-6 at the end of the first quarter may have been livable for the Wildcats if they had not given up 17 second quarter points to visiting Lyons and fell behind by 14 at 28-14 going into the halftime break.

While the Wildcats needed to spark some offense in the second half, they also needed to put a stop to Lyons and instead played them nearly dead even in the final two quarters in losing by 15.

Landon Kaufman gave the Wildcats a strong effort as he put 18 points in the scorebook, including connecting on three three-pointers while finding time to make four steals on defense. Jon Schlosser hit five-of-seven from the field to finish with 11 points while blocking two shots and grabbing a pair of rebounds. Logan Churchill led Moundridge in the paint as he grabbed six rebounds and blocked four shots while also chipping in with seven points. Corbin Unruh guided the offense by dishing off five assists.
