Close but no ring or win either one on Saturday for the Canton/Galva girls basketball team as they lost their fifth-place game in the Goessel Bluebird Classic to Goessel, 45-41.

Alexa Bell nearly led the Lady Eagles across the scorebook as she put 17 points on the board while grabbing eight rebounds, making seven steals and dishing out four assists.

Emily Peterson also reached double digits in scoring with 11 while pulling down six rebounds and swiping five steals of her own.

Sage Toews led the team in assists with five while chipping in with eight points and four steals as well.

The Lady Eagles will be at home on Tuesday when they tangle with Lyons before going to Solomon on Friday.
