GARRISON, STEPHENS, ROLFS TOP LITTLE RIVER SCORING

SCHLOSSER, KAUFMAN LEAD MOUNDRIDGE

By William

LITTLE RIVER – It was scoring consistency and Jayden Garrison that powered the Little River boys basketball team to a 19-point, 60-41 home court victory over Moundridge on Tuesday.

Consistency because the Redskins scored between 15 and 17 points in three quarters and a dozen points in the final quarter.

Jayden Garrison because he put 34 points in the scorebook for Little River, including three three-pointers, hitting all five of his free throws, making 13-of-19 from the field while grabbing five rebounds, dishing out three assists and making four steals on defense.

Speaking of defense, the Redskin defense forced the Wildcats into making 23 turnovers while only committing seven of their own.

Little River took a nine-point, 17-8 lead over Moundridge by the end of the first quarter and then extended that to a 20-point, 32-12 advantage at the halftime break before the Wildcats were able to play the Redskins even in the final two quarters.

Overall, only four Redskins even scored as Graham Stephens chipped in with 12 points while Trey Rolfs also hit double digits with 10.

For the Wildcats, Jon Schlosser and Landon Kaufman did their best as they accounted for 31 of the teams 41 points with Schlosser leading the way with 16 points while Kaufman had 15. Schlosser also led the team in the paint and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds while Kaufman connected on three-of-four on three-pointers.

With the victory, Little River closes out the pre-Christmas part of their schedule with an undefeated, 5-0 record while being ranked number one in Class 3A.

Moundridge drops to 1-4 with the loss and will close out their pre-Christmas schedule by participating in the Heart of America League/Central Plains League challenge on Friday with a road game at Chaparral.
