OSOWSKI, HELINE TOP SCORERS

By William

HESSTON – The Smoky Valley boys basketball team fell behind early and combined with a struggling offense they were throttled on the road Tuesday at Hesston suffering a 52-26 loss.

Hesston put 21 points on the board in the first quarter while the Vikings could only manage six, and despite playing Hesston within a point in the second quarter, Smoky Valley trailed 30-14 going into the halftime break.

Hesston cruised in the second half to reach the 26-point victory.

While seven Vikings put points in the scorebook, none had more than five as Joe Osowski and Ryan Heline led the team in scoring with each getting five points while Haven Lysell-Stewart led the team in the paint with three rebounds.

The loss drops the Vikings to 0-3 for the season as they look to get that first win on Friday when they play host to Halstead.
