MCPHERSON WORKS TO RETURN TO FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING

By William

McPherson USD 418 Superintendent Shiloh Vincent recently released a notice that begins a transition from Fall Semester of 2020 to Spring Semester of 2021 that will result in an eventually Face-to-Face schooling for the entire district.

In the notice, Superintendent Vincent, pointed out that the information will articulate the approach used in the district’s planning along with the district’s plan and timeline within the early weeks of the second semester.

USING A PHASED-IN APPROACH:

The McPherson USD 418 Public Schools will utilize a deliberate, phased-in approach to enter the school year.

They believe that this approach offered students, families, staff, and the broader community a great advantage in successfully navigating the uncharted waters of dealing with the Coronavirus or COVID-19.

The district believed that this approach was successful and should serve as the model for transitioning from the end of the holiday break.

With that in mind, USD 418 will be intentional with how they will transition from the ‘Remote Learning Model’ back into full ‘Face-to-Face Learning’ during the crucial days and weeks of January 2021.

THE DISTRICT PLANS for TRANSITION TO SPRING OF 2021:

The following information represents the district’s plan for returning to school for the entire USD 418 in Spring of 2021.

Students, staff members, and community safety will remain the top priority.

With that in mind, both community and district condition will continue to help guide decisions related to learning models and could very well impact this plan and its timeline.

REMOTE LEARNING OPTION:

For those students choosing and/or enrolled in the ‘Remote Learning Model’, school will begin in the remote setting and continue in that manner throughout the semester.

From JANUARY 5-15, 2021:

Elementary (PreK – 5th grade) Students will be in the HYBRID MODEL.

Secondary (6th grade – 12th grade) Students will be in the REMOTE MODEL.
