PETERSON WITH DOUBLE-DOUBLE, BELL LEAD LADY EAGLES
By William
CANTON – Emily Peterson and Alexa Bell proved to be unstoppable and that was all the Canton/Galva girls needed on Friday to gain a hard fought, three-point, 54-51 victory at home over Goessel.
The two headed offensive tandem combined to score 43 of the teams 54 points in the game for the Lady Eagles.
Peterson had herself a career game for the Lady Eagles as she scored 22 points while getting a double-double with collecting 12 rebounds. Of her dozen rebounds, Peterson recorded eight of them on the offensive end to help dominate the paint for the evening.
Bell went six-for-seven at the free throw stripe on her way to putting 21 points in the scorebook. Bell also collected three rebounds while being the star of the Canton/Galva defense by making seven steals.
Mimi Craig only scored three points, but made her presence known on the boards as well as she pulled down six.
The victory is the second on the season for the Lady Eagles as they are now 2-6 heading into their Monday night game at Solomon.
