The Inman boys basketball team put together four quarters of consistent basketball on Tuesday and propelled them to a 19-point, 60-41 victory over Goessel in the first round of the Burrton Invitational.

Inman went up by five at 16-11 by the end of the first quarter before stretching it out to eight at 29-21 heading into the halftime break.

The Teutons then came out and put another 17 points on the scoreboard in the third quarter while holding Goessel to just seven, giving them a commanding 18-point, 46-28 lead going into the final eight minutes of play where they cruised in for the win.

“We played pretty good basketball tonight,” noted Teuton Head Coach Brett Froese in his post-game reflections. “I was pleased on how hard we played. Goessel plays super hard but we shot the ball much better tonight while also making some free throws which was nice for change. We now have a big test on Thursday, it should be a fun game.”

Tanner Heckel led the Teutons with 17 points which included one three-pointer and four-of-four at the free throw line. Jace Doerksen, Derick Johnson, and Eli Brunk all joined Heckel in double digits scoring with 10 points each.

With the victory, the Teutons are now 4-6 for the season and the big test Coach Froese was referring to is their second-round game in the Burrton Invitational on Thursday against Little River who sits at 10-0 on the season and is ranked number one in Class 1A.
