LYSELL-STEWART LEADS SMOKY VALLEY

STERLING – After leading for the first three quarters, the Smoky Valley boys basketball team faltered in the fourth and lost 44-29 to Scott City on Thursday at the Sterling Invitational.

The Vikings lead by one at the end of the first quarter, by five at the halftime break and by two at the end of the third quarter before Scott City put 20 points on the scoreboard in the final eight minutes of play while holding Smoky Valley to three and defeating the Vikings by 15 points.

The one bright spot for the Vikings was Haven Lysell-Stewart who managed to reach double digits with 10 points while also co-leading the team in rebounds with Brandt Heble with six.

The Vikings were scheduled to play for seventh-place in the invitational on Friday.
