BOUGHFMAN, ECK, OLANDER, RENKEN LEAD LITTLE RIVER

HERINGTON – It was a strong second half that propelled the Little River Lady Redskins to a Friday night, 47-41, road win over Herington.

Trailing by five, 15-10, at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Redskins played the Lady Railroaders even in the second quarter to stay within five points, 26-21, heading into the halftime break.

Little River came out an put 17 points on the board in the third quarter to take a four-point, 38-34 advantage into the final eight minutes of play where they hung on for to earn the final six-point victory.

“We won our game last nigh with Herington 47-41,” explained Lady Redskin Head Coach Brent Clark. “We started off playing well, but couldn’t get many shots to fall. We shot better in the second half.”

Lily Boughfman had a strong night offensively by leading the Lady Redskins with 15 points while Alaina Eck chipped in with 13 in what was one of her more solid games of the season as she connected on three three-pointers and also dished out four assists, grabbed a pair of rebounds and on defense made a team high four steals.

MeKenzie Renken just missed double digits scoring with nine points while Aubrey Olander continued her hard work in the paint by pulling down 10 rebounds and making a pair of steals.

The victory was a team effort as seven Lady Redskins recorded at least two rebounds by their name in the scorebook, five dished out assists and five made steals while playing defense.

Coach Clark concluded his game reflections by adding, “I thought we played solid on defense, especially in the second-half. It was a good team effort for the win.”

The win gives the Lady Redskins a 6-3 record for the season as they prep to play in the Fairfield Girls Basketball Invitational next week.
