GIDDINGS, HALE, PALACIOS EARN 1ST PLACE FINISHES

COUNCIL GROVE – The McPherson girls wrestling team overwhelmed most of the field of 10 teams at districts in Council Grove on Friday and qualified eight of ten wrestlers for next weeks regionals.

Holli Giddings, who has only lost one match all season, continued to dominate by scoring a win at 155 pounds while Amethyst Hale at 115 and Catalina Palacios at 126 also earned first place finishes.

Three Lady Bullpups placed second while three finished third in their weight divisions.

The remaining two McPherson wrestlers both place fifth which leaves them as an alternate for next week’s regionals.

McPherson = 1st place with 115 points

Cottonwood Falls/Chase County = 2nd place with 75 points

Council Grove = 3rd place with 69 points

Abilene = Tied for 4th place with 60 points

Smoky Valley = Tied for 4th place with 60 points

Whitewater/Remington = 6th place with 57 points

Brookville/Ell Saline = 7th place with 21 points

Buhler = 8th place with 16 points

Marion = 9th place with 10 points

Allen/Northern Heights = 10th place with 0 points

101 lbs. = Riley Baker finished 2nd, went 2-1 and scored 12 team points.

109 lbs. = Aubree Martin finished 5th, went 2-2 and scored 5 team points.

115 lbs. = Amethyst Hale finished 1st, went 3-0 and scored 18 team points.

120 lbs. = Braelynn Patterson finished 3rd, went 1-2 and scored 7 team points.

126 lbs. = Catalina Palacios finished 1st, went 3-0 and scored 16 team points.

132 lbs. = Arianna Gross finished 2nd, went 2-1 and scored 10 team points.

138 lbs. = Addyson Senecal finished 5th, went 2-2 and scored 5 team points.

155 lbs. = Holli Giddings finished 1st, went 3-0 and scored 18 team points.

170 lbs. = Hunter Wilson finished 3rd, went 3-1 and scored 12 team points.

191 lbs. = Erin Katina finished 2nd, went 2-1 and scored 12 team points.
