WAMEGO – It was a good day Saturday for the Smoky Valley boys wrestlers as they qualified five of seven wrestlers to go to regionals by placing in the top four of their weight divisions at the District 4 meet in Wamego.

The top finishers for the Viking grapplers were Connor Barnes at 113 lbs. and Leroy Bean at 285 lbs., as they both placed third. Placing fourth and becoming automatic qualifiers were Braunson Golden, Tanner Luttig and Alex Grosland.

To automatically qualify for regionals the wrestlers must place in the top four, with those placing fifth or sixth earn alternate status. Earning alternate status for Smoky Valley were Justice Gardner and Richard Zeller.
