LITTLE RIVER – It was the defense that won the game as the Little River girls held visiting Centre to just 15 points in scoring their 12th win of the season with a dominating 34-point, 49-15 victory.

“Another great defensive effort by the girls tonight,” noted Lady Redskin head coach Brent Clark during his post-game reflections. “We gave up 10 points in the first quarter, then held them to just five the rest of the game. Lily (Boughfman) had another strong game while Ashley (Stephenson) came off the bench and scored eight points while grabbing six rebounds. I believe we are peaking at the right time.”

Now 12-3 for the season and new to the Class 1A rankings in eighth, the Lady Redskins have a busy week as they play a makeup game at Herington on Thursday before traveling over to battle Elyria Christian on Friday. Elyria is currently 14-2 for the year and ranked fifth in Class 1A Division II.

While Lily Boughfman had a solid game in leading the team in scoring with 16 points while dishing out three assists, grabbing three rebounds, and making six steals and blocking five shots on defense, it was Aubrey Olander who continued her amazing freshman season as she recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds to go along with three steals and a blocked shot.
