MOUNDRIDGE – When neither team shoots over 28% for the game, the game is won ugly and that is exactly what the Moundridge boys did on Friday in scoring at home a five-point, 34-29 win over Remington.

Remington held a one-point, 6-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter before the Wildcats put 16 points on the board in the second quarter to take a comfortable 21-8 lead into the halftime break before Remington came on to outscore Moundridge 21-13 in the final two quarters leaving the Wildcats to hang on by their claws to earn the victory.

“Trying to find something we did well tonight,” noted Wildcat head coach Vance Unrau during his post-game reflections. “We struggled and it was a very lackadaisical effort which makes us coaches disappointed. Not a highlight reel as both teams shot less than 30% from the field. We just have to put this behind us as we still have a lot that we are playing for down the stretch.”

The Wildcats shot just 28% from the field while Remington hit on just 27% of their shots.

Logan Churchill led Moundridge with a solid game as he hit a pair of three-pointers on his way to scoring 15 points to go with three assists, seven rebounds, a pair of steals and a whopping five blocked shots.

Landon Kaufman also reached double digits scoring for the Wildcats as he put 14 in the scorebook including a pair of three-pointers to go with four steals, three rebounds and a pair of assists.

Jon Schlosser may not have scored but two points, but he had a huge night in the paint by pulling down 12 rebounds.

The win gives the Wildcats an 11-6 mark for the season.
