NONE FOR MCPHERSON BPU AS OF YET….

By William

MCPHERSON – The McPherson County Emergency Manager has noted that, as many have heard already, there will be rolling blackouts throughout the region.

In a media release, the McPherson County Emergency Manager also notes that they have been in contact with Evergy, DS&O, Flint Hills Electric, and Ark Valley and found they WILL ALL be participating in the rolling blackouts.

So, If you are serviced by any of these power companies – Evergy, DS&O, Flint Hills Electric or Ark Valley – you must BE PREPARED FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF LOSING POWER!

They all say they will try to keep the outage limited to 30 to 60 minutes, but there is no guarantee for this time frame. This will be happening for the next 24 to 48 hours.

IF YOU ARE SERVICED BY MCPHERSON BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES – THERE ARE NO PLANS FOR OUTAGES AT THIS TIME!

If this should change, Emergency Management will do their best to notify everyone ASAP.

Unfortunately, there is no schedule for this and Emergency Management DOES NOT have any information as far as who will be without power and when. We ask you have your phones and other electronic devices charged up, and blankets ready to be used.

Because the outages will be for such a short amount of time, it is best to just shelter in place and there should not be a need to find alternate shelter.

However, if you find yourself in some sort of extenuating circumstances and you are in need of shelter or warmth – please contact Emergency dispatch at (620) 245-1266 or call 911 and they will get ahold of Emergency Management.

PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT DISPATCH WITH QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS – EVERYTHING WE KNOW REGARDING THE POSSIBLE OUTAGES ARE IN THIS MEDIA RELEASE.

Emergency Management asks that all just hang in there as this is the time to support each other. Check on your elderly neighbors and family, make sure your pets have some sort of shelter, and break out the candles and board games.

This too shall pass – stay safe.
