PETERSON RECORDS DOUBLE-DOUBLE

By William

GOESSEL – The Canton/Galva girls obviously have not had the season they were hoping to have, but they did close the regular schedule out with a solid team performance and a 13-point, 45-32 victory on the road Tuesday over Goessel.

While seven Lady Eagles put points in the stat book, it was Emily Peterson who closed out her final regular season game in uniform with a spectacular double-double as she led the team in points with 12 and rebounds with 11 while also grabbing three steals on defense.

Sophomore Brecken Pearson also reached double figures in scoring with 10 while senior Alexa Bell just missed with nine.

As a team, seven Lady Eagles recorded at least one rebounded and three girls made at least three steals on defense as Canton/Galva recorded 14 steals overall.

With the win the Lady Eagles finish the regular season with a record of 5-14 as they now prep for a battle with Rural Vista on the road Thursday in the first round of the Class 1A Division I substate playoffs.
