LITTLE RIVER, ELYRIA GET 1ST ROUND BYES

The Kansas State Basketball Playoffs begin this week and all seven area schools have been paired out for substate play.
One must remember that the Moundridge girls still have to play Remington on Thursday and both the McPherson boys and girls close out their regular season on Friday hosting Circle.
While the Class 1A substate games begin at the end of this week, the Little River boys and girls plus the Elyria Christian boys and girls have first round byes so they will play each other for a final regular season matchup on Thursday in Little River.
Here are the area school pairings for the beginning of substate:
In Class 1A Division II at the Peabody/Burns District:
Elyria Christian Boys (#1 seed, 11-7) have a bye and will play Friday, March 5 against the winner of a game between Hartford (3-14) and Chase (1-13).
Elyria Christian Girls (#2 seed, 15-3) have a bye and will play Thursday, March 4 against the winner of a game between Centre (4-8) and Chase (1-14).
In Class 1A Division I at the Canton/Galva District:
Little River Boys (#1 seed, 18—1) have a bye and will play Friday, March 5 against the winner of a game between Goessel (12-6) and Canton/Galva (9-8).
Little River Girls (#1 seed, 16-3) have a bye and will play Thursday, March 4 against the winner of a game between Lincoln (5-7) and Goessel (5-13).
Canton/Galva Boys (#5 seed, 9-8) play at Goessel (12-6) on Friday, February 16, if they win, they will then play the Little River Boys (#1 seed, 18-1) on Friday, March 5.
Canton/Galva Girls (#6 seed, 4-14) play at Rural Vista (11-5) on Thursday, February 25, if they win, they will then play the winner of a game between Sylvan/Lucas (11-4) and Solomon (4-14) on Thursday, March 4.
In Class 2A at the Hillsboro District:
Inman Boys (#6 seed, 10-10) will play at Hutchinson Trinity (13-7) on Monday, March 1, if they win, they will play the winner of a game between Salina-Sacred Heart (14-3) and Bennington (6-12).
Inman Girls (#7 seed, 7-12) will play at Moundridge (14-5) on Tuesday, March 2, if they win, they will play the winner of a game between Salina-Sacred Heart (10-7) and Hutchinson Trinity Catholic (9-11).
Moundridge Boys (#4 seed, 13-7) will host Sedgwick (11-7) on Monday, March 1, if they win, they will play the winner of a game between Hillsboro (#1 seed, 16-3) and Ell-Saline (0-19).
Moundridge Girls (#2 seed, 14-5) will host Inman (7-12) on Tuesday, March 2, if they win, they will play the winner of a game between Salina-Sacred Heart (10-7) and Hutchinson Trinity Catholic (9-11).
In Class 3A at the Hesston District:
Smoky Valley Boys (#6 seed, 7-12) will play at Haven (14-5) on Tuesday, March 2, if they win, they will play the winner of a game between Lyons (14-4) and Kingman (5-12).
Smoky Valley Girls (#4 seed, 13-7) will host Haven (6-13) on Monday, March 1, if they win, they will play the winner of a game between Halstead (#1 seed, 17-3) and Lyons (3-12).
In Class 4a at the Buhler District:
McPherson Boys (#2 seed) will host Pratt (2-12) on Tuesday, March 2, if they win, they will play the winner of a game between Buhler (#1 seed) and either Ulysses or Nickerson on Friday, March 5.
McPherson Girls (#2 seed) will host Pratt (5-15) on Tuesday, March 2, if they win, they will play the winner of a game between Nickerson (#1 seed, 17-3) and either Ulysses or Buhler on Saturday, March 6.
