12 INMAN PLAYERS SCORE

By William

HERINGTON – It was a team effort that powered the Inman boys to a dominating 74-22 win on the road at Herington on Tuesday to close out their regular season.

The Teutons doubled up Herington in the first quarter 14-7 before powering out to a 22-point, 32-10 advantage heading into the halftime break. Coming out of the intermission, Inman did not let up on the offense push as they outscored Herington 42-12 in the final two quarters to gain the 52-point victory.

“I like our effort tonight,” explained Teuton head coach Brett Froes in his brief post-game reflections. “Once again, we played hard and never let Herington in it.”

It was a true team effort as not a single Teuton reached double digits in the scorebook, but all 12 players scored at least a pair of points and six scored at least eight.

Jace Doerksen and Kyler Konrade led the team with nine points each while Derick Johnson, Eli Brunk, Tanner Heckel, and Brenton Thiessen all chipped in with eight.

As a team Inman connected on nine three-pointers led by Konrade, Eli Brunk and Heckel all connecting for two each.

Defensively, the Teutons forced Herrington into 24 turnovers.

Coach Froese concluded his reflections by reflecting on the season and what still lays ahead by adding, “The regular season is over, and I really like how we are playing going into the post season. It will not be easy, but the kids are playing with a lot of confidence right now.”

The win evens the Teutons season record at 10-10 as they prep for their first-round game of Class 2A substate when they go on the road to play Hutchinson Trinity Catholic on Monday, March 1.
