By William

When the offense is clicking the Little River boys are hard to beat as Solomon found out on Saturday as the Redskins took a 75-39 win to gain the substate championship as well as a trip to the Class 1A Division I State Tournament.

The Redskins took an 11-point, 24-13 lead by the end of the first quarter and then followed that up by outscoring Solomon 26-8 in the second quarter to take a whopping 29-point, 50-21 advantage heading into the halftime break. After pushing the lead out to 33 by the end of the third quarter, Little River cruised in for the final 36-point victory.

Little River shot an amazing 64% from the field when on offense and defensively they forced the Solomon offense into 19 turnovers.

Jayden Garrison led the Redskins with 26 points which included a pair of three-pointers while he also grabbed five rebounds and led the team with four steals.

Both Trey Rolfs and Braxton Lafferty joined Garrison in double digits on the scoreboard with 17 and 10 points each while they each also swiped three steals on defense.

Now 20-1 for the season, the Redskins move on to the state tournament with hopes of grabbing another state trophy to go with their football title they won in November.

Little River will now play Clifton/Clyde on Tuesday. Clifton/Clyde will come into the game 20-2 for the season and having won their substate with a 46-32 win over Frankfort.
