3 SENIORS, 5 JUNIORS LEAD MCPHERSON

By William

In 2020 the McPherson girls soccer team was picked to one of the favorites to possible win the state title only to have the full season disappear due to the pandemic.

According to Lady Bullpup head coach Chris Adrian, “Not having the chance to play last spring had a major impact and it was not just the lack of game experience that was lost, the traditions and relationships that are built during the season never had a chance to be established.

A BIT ABOUT THE LADY BULLPUP SEASON TO BE:

Coach Adrian claims that he has never seen a group of upperclassmen so excited to play and that the seniors especially are practicing with so much energy and joy that it is really been great to watch.

The Lady Bullpups have had a great two weeks of practice and these girls are eager to start competing.

KEY LOSSES FOR THE LADY BULLPUPS TO GRADUATION/TRANSFERS:

  • Claire Hedlund = she was on track to take top honors on several McPherson career records before the season was taken away due to the pandemic.

LADY BULLPUP KEY RETURNING PLAYERS:

The Lady Bullpups have three key seniors and five juniors returning to make up for lost time, with all having had considerable game playing experience.

  • Kenzee Godwin = senior.
  • Belle Alexander = senior.
  • Lexi Kynaston = senior.
  • Lauren Labertew = junior.
  • Sydney Achilles = junior.
  • Megan Everhart = junior.
  • Olivia Rodriquez = junior.
  • Grace Witte = junior.

LADY BULLPUPS SEASON OUTLOOK:

According to Coach Adrian the season will have some challenges, but he is looking at the rewards ahead, commenting on the outlook of the 2021 season with:

  • “This team is going to be fun to watch as there is some serious talent and athleticism in the squad.”
  • “We lost a tremendous senior class last season that unfortunately did not get a chance to compete, but that experience has really galvanized this team and motivated them to play hard and take nothing for granted.”
  • “There is going to be a lot of new faces in the starting line-up and it will take a few games for the girls to get completely comfortable in their new roles, but I have no doubt this team can compete against anyone.”
