CANTON – Except for the first few innings of game two, it was all Little River on Thursday as they traveled to Canton and scored a pair of very decisive wins over the Eagles, winning game one 18-1 before coming back from a three-run deficit to bury Canton/Galva 24-5 in the nightcap.

It was all Little River in GAME ONE as the Redskins put 15 runs on the board in the first three innings while holding the Eagles to its only run in the second inning on their way to the 18-1 win.

Jayden Garrison went the distance on the mound for the Redskins, needing just 59 pitches to get the win as he gave up just one hit, one run and struck out seven.

Garrison and Dalton Mantz each hit for doubles on offense for Little River while Grant Stephens had a big game, going 3-3 with four runs batted in and scoring three times himself helped by the fact he stole five of the teams 13 stolen bases.

For Canton/Galva, Brandon Huff started the game on the mound and worked a pair of innings before giving way to Ryder Norstrom. The two combined to throw 132 pitches, give up 11 hits, 15 earned runs, struck out two and walked 11.

Brayden Collins scored the only run for the Eagles after reaching base on a walk with Andrew Prieb getting credit for the run batted in.

In GAME TWO, the Eagles took an early 3-0 lead after the first inning and held a 5-4 advantage after two before the Redskins offense put 10 runs on the scoreboard in the next three innings and then poured across 10 runs in the top of the seventh on their way to the commanding 24-5 victory.

Keaton Richardson got the start on the mound for Little River and went four innings before Graham Stephens finished out the final three and the duo threw a combined 130 pitches while giving up 12 hits, walking only three and striking out 12.

On offense, Jayden Garrison went 4-5 with six runs batted in while scoring four times and pounding out a pair of doubles. Brandon Young, Graham Stephens, and Kaden Schafer all added a pair of hits in the game while Stephens and Schafer knocked in four runs each. The scoring was helped by the fact that the Eagle pitching walked a whopping 19 batters in the second game.

The Eagles sent four pitchers to the mound in the game with Andrew Prieb starting and went the first 3.2 innings before Chase French, Wyatt Collins and Ryder Norstrom each pitched an inning. Canton/Galva threw 234 pitches in the game and gave up 13 hits, 13 earned runs, struck out seven and walked 19.

Six Eagles had a pair of hits in the game including Xavier Westbrook, Braison Alcala, Garrett Maltbie, Brayden Collins, Keaton Littrell and Brandon Huff with Alcala, Littrell and Maltbie each hitting for doubles.

The Redskins will be back on the diamond on Tuesday, April 6 when they host Bennington.

Canton/Galva will now have 11 days off before returning to competitive action on the diamond when they travel to Marion on Tuesday, April 13.
