By William

LITTLE RIVER – It was pure domination for the Little River baseball team on Tuesday as they smothered Bennington in both ends of a home doubleheader, winning game one 16-0 before taking the nightcap 16-1.

In GAME ONE, the Redskins were led by a strong pitching performance from Jayden Garrison who went all four innings, threw just 64 pitches while allowing just one hit and striking out six.

Little River jumped out early with four runs in the first, three in the second, three in the third and then six more in the fourth to put the game away.

At the plate, Ty Herzog led the Redskins with three hits, including a triple, while Braden Young, Kaden Schafer and Graham Stephens each had a pair of hits with Schafer and Young pounding out doubles. Stephens recorded six runs batted in while Schafer had four with Garrison, Young and Stephens all scoring three times as well.

Little River scored all 16 runs of GAME TWO in the first three innings including six in the second and seven in the third.

Braden Young nearly matched Garrison pitching performance by throwing a one hitter as well though he did give up one unearned run and struck out just one.

The Redskins needed only seven hits to earn their 16 runs, led by Grant Stephens and Dalton Mantz each getting a pair to led the offense. Stephens pounded out a pair of doubles, while Garrison and Mantz each hit one as well and Young helped his pitching effort by hammering out a triple. Garrison also stole four bases.

Little River is now 5-1 on the season and riding a 4-game win streak as they prep to go on the road Friday to Ellinwood.
