LAFFERTY EARNS GOLD AND SILVER, STEPHENSON GETS 2 SILVER

GOESSEL – On Tuesday, the Little River track team took a young but athletic team to Goessel and came home with one gold, and four silver medals for the day.

While no team points were available, Little River was one of seven school participating. Other schools were Burden Central, Goessel, Hesston, Central Christian of Hutchinson, Langdon/Fairfield, and Lyons.

The top performer for the Redskin boys was Braxton Lafferty as he earned gold by placing first in the Javelin while also earning a silver with a second-place finish in the triple jump. Cade Young in the 100 meters, Treyton Olander in the 3,200 meters, and Carter Holloway in the shot put all placed third.

Leading the way for the Lady Redskins was Ashley Stephenson, just a freshman, who finished second in both the 800 meters and the triple jump. Addison O’Neill, a sophomore, took second in the 3,200 meters while freshman Aubrey Olander in the 1,600 meters and 300 meter hurdles, freshman Kate Ellwood in the 100 meter hurdles, freshman Alaina Eck in the triple jump and the 4×400 meter relay team all took third place.

Next up for the Little River track team will be on the road at Lyons on Friday.
