TY MILLER HAS STRONG GAME FOR VIKINGS

HILLSBORO – It was a solid day for the Smoky Valley baseball team on Tuesday as they went into Hillsboro and brought home a come-from-behind, 11-7, victory in game one before dropping a 9-6 verdict in the nightcap.

In GAME ONE, Hillsboro held a 3-0 lead after the second inning and while the Vikings put two runs on the board in the top of the third, Hillsboro added three more to take a 6-2 advantage. Heading into the sixth inning, Smoky Valley was still trailing 7-4 before putting three runs on the board to tie and game and sending it into an extra inning. In the top of the eighth, the Vikings powered four runs across to get the come-from-behind 11-7 win.

Ty Miller was the leader of the Vikings as he was the winning pitcher on record while also getting a pair of hits. Haven Lysell-Stewart drove in three runs while Kade Blanchat, Treyton Miller, Brandon Malm, and Trevor Jones all got a pair of hits.

Hillsboro spotted the Vikings a run in the top of the first inning of GAME TWO before putting four runs on the board in the bottom of the inning and then adding three more in the second to take a commanding 7-1 lead through the third inning.

Smoky Valley pushed three runs across in the fourth and two in the fifth, but Hillsboro was able to add a run in the bottom of both the fourth and sixth innings to earn the 9-6 win.

The lone highlight for the Vikings in the nightcap was a towering double hit by Noaln Bauer.

Smoky Valley is now 4-2 for the season and were scheduled to play host to Lyons on Friday.
