ADAM WINS FOURTH GAME OF SEASON

LINDSBORG – Beating the weather to get just one game in on Friday, the Smoky Valley softball team made the best of it and scored a pair of runs in the final at bat to score a two-run, 8-6 win over Lyons.
The Lady Vikings spotted Lyons a run in the top of the first inning before putting three runs on the board in the bottom of the inning to take an early 3-1 lead.
After Lyons tied the game with a run in the third and another in the fourth, Smoky Valley pushed three more runs across in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead back at 6-3 before Lyons pulled back to within one in the fifth.
The Lady Vikings then put two more runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth before holding Lyons to just one run in the top of the seventh to earn the final two-run victory.
Karee Adam pitched the distance for the Lady Vikings and recorded her fourth win of the season while Claire Broxterman was once again the leader behind the plate.
Maddi Tolle led the Lady Viking bats with a pair of hits, including a double, while scoring three times and knocking in two run. Both Catherine Odell and Olivia Morgan also had a two hits in the game with Odell also recording a pair of stolen bases.
With the win, the Lady Vikings are now 5-2 overall and 5-2 in Central Kansas League play. They will get a week off before returning to the competitive diamond on Friday, April 16 with a road trip to Halstead.
