MINNEAPOLIS – After winning their fifth game in a row in game one on the road Tuesday, 11-6, Little River dropped the nightcap,13-7, to earn a split of a doubleheader with Minneapolis.

In GAME ONE, the Redskins got on the board early thanks to a home run by Kade Schafer to take a 2-0 early lead. It was 3-1 in favor of the Redskins through four before Little River racked up three runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth giving them a commanding 11-2 lead heading into the final inning when Minneapolis put four runs on the board to give them a scare before they hung on for the final 11-6 victory.

Jayden Garrison started on the mound for the Redskins and worked six innings where he struck out eight before giving way to Graham Stephens in relief.

Besides his early home run, Schafer also pounded out a double to lead Little River along with Graham Stephens with three hits in the game. Schafer also knocked in four runs in the game while Stephens hammered out a pair of doubles and scored four times.

Little River took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of GAME TWO before Minneapolis poured six runs across home plate in the bottom of the second and then added another five in the fourth inning to take an 11-3 advantage that the Redskins could not make up despite three runs in the seventh.

Braden Young only lasted a bit over an inning on the mound for the Redskins before giving way to Ty Herzog and Keaton Richardson as they gave up 10 hits and seven earned runs while the Little River defense made four errors.

Young led the team at the plate with three hits while Grant Stephens got a pair.

The Redskins are now 6-2 for the season and will be back in action on Tuesday, April 20 when they play host to Moundridge.
