STRUBER PLACES TOP 7 IN 3 EVENTS

WICHITA – Four track/field athletes representing Canton/Galva participated Thursday and Friday in the Class 1-3A Division of the Shocker Pre-State Classic Track Meet in Wichita and managed to place in the top 10 in six of the seven events Eagles were entered in.

Leading the way for the Eagles was junior Tyson Struber who had an outstanding meet as he finished 5^th in the 100 meters, 6^th in the 200 meters and then tied for 7^th in the long jump. The times by Struber in both the 100 and 200 meters were his season personal records.

Lane McMannis, just a freshman, ran a personal record in the 400 meters and finished 9^th before turning around and running in the 300 meter hurdles and placed 7^th.

The long Lady Eagle participating was Mimi Craig and she placed 13^th in the shot put.

On Thursday evening, Christian Darrah ran in the 1,600 meters and placed 10^th out of 27 runners.

“This meet was a great preparation for these athletes leading into the second half of our season,” explained Eagle track/field coach Tina McMannis while reflecting on the four and their placings. “This event allowed them to compete against the top level of athletes in Kansas and get a feel for Cessna Stadium where the Kansas State Track & Field Meet will be on May 29^th for Class 1-2A schools.

LADY EAGLES RESULTS:

Shot Put = Mimi Craig finished 13^th with a throw of 28’ 2.75”.

EAGLE BOYS RESULTS:

Long Jump = Tyson Struber tied for 7^th with a jump of 19’ 4.75”.

100 Meters = Tyson Struber finished 5^th with a time of 11.41.

200 Meters = Tyson Struber finished 6^th with a time of 23.43.

300 Meter Hurdles = Lane McMannis finished 7^th with a time of 46.09.

400 Meters = Lane McMannis finished 9^th with a time of 56.30.

1,600 Meters = Christian Darrah finished 10^th with a time of 4:57.06.
