C/G JUNIOR EAGLES EARN 10 GOLDS AT HERINGTON

HERINGTON – The Canton/Galva Junior High track/field team competed at Herington on Thursday and brought home one 2^nd place team finish among five teams along with 10 total individual or team gold medals.

Other teams in the meet were Herington, Elyria Christian, Solomon and Rural Vista.

It was the 7^th grade Junior Lady Eagles that starred on the day as they finished 2^nd in the team standings, just behind Solomon, with 106 points and brought home eight of the 10 gold medals giving the 7^th grade Junior Lady Eagles first place finishes in eight events..

Both Adi Alcala in the 100 meters and 200 meter hurdles, and Jordyn Elliot in the 100 meter hurdles and the long jump won two individual golds while also running two legs along with Emerson Hoppes and Mackinlee Hoppes on the gold medal medley relay team. Jayden Orth also won a pair of individual golds in the shot put and discus. Makinlee Hoppes also won and individual gold in the 400 meters.

In the boys division the Junior Eagles won gold in the 7^th grade division when Camden Kruse won the triple jump in his first ever attempt at the event, plus  Noah Collins won gold in the discus for the 8^th grade Junior Eagles.

Next up for the Canton/Galva Junior Eagle track/field team will be on Thursday, April 29 when they travel to Sterling.

Team Finishes: 7^TH Grade Junior Lady Eagles finished 2^nd with 106 points – the 8^th Grade Junior Lady Eagles finished 5^th with 2 points.

Team Finishes: 7^th Grade Junior Eagle Boys finished 5^th with 24 points – 8^th Grade Junior Eagle Boys finished 5^th with 42 points.
