TOLLE HITS 4 HR, ADAM NOW 7-0 ON MOUND

LARNED – It was a busy day for the bats of the Smoky Valley softball team on Friday as they went on the road and hammered Larned in a doubleheader sweep, 16-1 and 17-0 thanks to 28 hits, no defensive errors and four home runs.

In GAME ONE, Smoky Valley powered 10 runs across in the first inning before adding two more in each of the next three innings on their way to the 16-1 win.

Karee Adam took the mound for the Lady Vikings and remained unbeaten at 7-0 for the season by recording the win.

At the plate, Madi Tolle pounded out two home runs on three hits while knocking across five runs to lead Smoky Valley. Catherine Odell knocked out a double and triple with her two hits while recording three runs batted in and scoring three times as well. Also putting two hits in the scorebook were Maliyah Koster, Kerington Haxton, and Abby Hipp.

It was similar in GAME TWO as the Lady Vikings put three runs on the board in the first inning before pouring across eight in the second, two in the third, one in the fourth and three more in the fifth on their way to the 17-run shutout victory.

Abby Hipp earned her second win on the season by pitching the first four innings before Maggie Ryals came in to finish out the final inning for Smoky Valley.

At the plate it was once again junior Madi Tolle as she pounded out another three hits which included two more home runs, giving her four on the day, while scoring four times and knocking in three runs. Claire Broxterman also got three hits for the Lady Vikings, with two being doubles. Tolle has now hit nine home runs on the season.

Olivia Morgan, Maliyah Koster, Addie Heitschmidt, and Karee Adam all got a pair of hits with Morgan scoring three times and recording a pair of stolen bases while Koster had three runs batted in with two runs scored, Heitschmidt knocked in four runs thanks to a double and Adam also swiped a pair of bases.

The two big wins gives the Lady Vikings a season record of 9-2 both overall and in Central Kansas League activity. Next up will be a home doubleheader with Southeast of Saline on Monday.
