THIESSEN BREAKS SHOT PUT RECORD

STERLING – It was a very good day for the Inman track/field team on Thursday as they traveled to Sterling and competed in the 13-team Sterling Relays as the Inman girls took third and the Inman boys finished second.
The Lady Teutons finished third with 78 team points behind first-place Sterling and runner-up Scott Community.
Claire Thiessen, despite not winning the event, had the highlight of the day for the Lady Teutons as she broke a long-standing school record with a throw of 38’ 5.5”, easily breaking the old record of 37’ 10” held by Brenna Schierling.
The lone gold won by the Inman girls came with Madilynn Heflin winning the 100-meter hurdles while the Lady Teutons did take a pair of second place finishes and six third-place finishes.
On the boys side of the track, the Teutons placed second with 117.5 points, just behind first-place Scott Community and a distance ahead of Sterling at third. Other teams participating were Hutchinson Central Christian, Lyons, Ellsworth, Ellinwood, Concordia, Nickerson, Meade, Burrton, Langdon/Fairfield, Little River and Solomon.
The Teuton boys took first in four events led by a one-two-three finish in the triple jump with Tanner Heckel taking first followed by Dawson Mannebach and Eli Brunk. Other gold medalists for Inman were Jace Doerksen in the 300-meter hurdles, Brenton Thiessen in the discus and Grant Thimmesch in the Javelin.
By the end of the meet the Teuton boys had also gathered four runner-up finishes and six third place finishes.
The Inman track/field team will be back on the competitive track on Tuesday, April 27 at Burrton.
