BROWN HITS A GRAND SLAM, JOHNSON SETS NEW SCHOOL RECORD

INMAN = The Inman baseball team made quick work of Moundridge on Tuesday as they swept a home doubleheader, winning game one 17-1 before taking a 10-3 victory in the nightcap.
In GAME ONE, the Teutons erupted for 11 runs in the first and six in the second inning to make quick work of the game while getting the 16-run win over the Wildcats.
Logan Churchill and Ethan Brandeweide worked the pitching for Moundridge while Corbin Unruh was the offensive bright spot with a home run as the Wildcats managed just a pair of hits in the game.
Carter Brown had the highlight of the game for the Teutons as he powered out a grand slam home run in his second trip to the plate in the first inning while finishing the short game with five runs batted in. Kyler Konrade went 3-for-3 with a double while scoring three times and Jayden Leonhardt had a pair of hits including a double and a home run with four runs batted in. Inman pounded out a total of four doubles and two home runs among their 11 hits in the game.
Landen Snyder worked the mound for Inman and recorded five strikeouts in just three innings worked while giving up just two hits.
“(Landen) Snyder was dealing today and he worked ahead and stayed ahead for three innings of efficient work out there,” noted Teuton head coach Matt Mikulecky. “We gave him a lead to work with and he just got after it getting his work done in just 43 pitches. Offensively, we were aggressive.”
Moundridge played the Teutons closer in GAME TWO, as they responded with a run in the second after Inman took an early 2-0 first inning lead. The Teutons then added one in each of the third and fourth innings before pouring six runs on the scoreboard in the fifth to pull away for the final 10-3 victory.
Wyatt Falco did his best to keep the Wildcats in the game as he pounded out a double and stole a base when on offense and while pitching, he went 4.2 innings and gave up just three hits and two earned runs while striking out 10. Corbin Unruh closed out the game for Moundridge on the mound.
Carson Munoz started the game on the mound for the Teutons and went six innings, giving up just three hits, one earned run and walking one while striking out 11 before Carter Brown came in and got the save in the final inning as he struck out the side.
Offensively, Derick Johnson set a new Teuton school record for stolen bases with his second steal of the day, giving him 28 in his career.
Kyler Konrade and Brant Mikulecky accounted for eight of the Teutons 10 runs as they both went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in while Konrade hit for a triple and scored three times and Mikulecky scored once. Brown and Johnson also hit triples in the game.
Teuton Coach Mikulecky concluded his post-game reflections by talking about the pitching matchup, saying, “(Carson) Munoz and (Wyatt) Falco for the Wildcats were battling on the mound tonight and both guys were pitching well. We couldn’t get on time with Falco and he did a great job of mixing it up. Munoz was a bulldog on the mound and he carried us through six strong innings to pick up his sixth win of the season. We were struggling to get anything going offensively, so having Munoz pitch so well was huge.”
Now 12-2 for the season, the Teutons will go on the road Friday to play Bennington, while the Wildcats will be back on the road on Thursday to tangle with Little River.
