ERIN DURST HITS FOR CYCLE, GETS 7 HITS

HUTCHINSON – The Moundridge softball team continued to dominate again on Tuesday as they traveled to Hutchinson and scored 10-0 and 23-5 victories over Hutchinson Trinity to clean sweep the doubleheader.
With the two wins, the Lady Wildcats continue their winning streak to 10 games while giving them an overall record of 12-4 on the season.
Erin Durst led the offensive attack for Moundridge as she went 7-for-9 in the two games with one walk, eight runs batted in and scored six times plus hit for the cycle in game two with a single, a double, a triple and a home run.
In GAME ONE, the Lady Wildcats put five runs on the board in the first three innings and another five in the final two innings to earn the 10-0 shutout win behing a master pitching job from Mckenzie Elmore. Elmore went all seven innings and threw 97 pitches, giving up just three hits and striking our four without walking a single Trinity batter.
At the plate, the Lady Wildcats took advantage of seven defense errors by Trinity while still getting three hits from Erin Durst and a pair of hits from Elmore and Emma Blough. One of Elmore’s hits was a double.
After leading just 3-2 after the first inning in GAME TWO, Moundridge put seven runs on the board in the second and third inning before adding three in the fifth and then pouring across 10 runs in the sixth to gain the 23-5 victory and sweep of the doubleheader.
Besides Durst hitting for the cycle with four hits, eight runs batted in and scoring four times, the Lady Wildcats were also led at the plate by McKenzie Elmore, Alea Durst, Emma Blough, Kate Eichelberger, Addi Falco and Aubree Durst each getting a pair of hits as the team total 19 hits in the game. Blough and Emily Durst also hit for doubles while Mckenzie Elmore hit for both a double and a triple while also stealing three of the teams 11 stolen bases.
Next up for the Lady Wildcats will be on Friday when they travel to Marion.
