LITTLE RIVER – On Friday, the Little River baseball team took care of Ell-Saline twice winning game one 15-0 in three innings before completing the doubleheader sweep with a 7-2 win in the nightcap.

In GAME ONE, Little River’s Ty Herzog was on the mound and gave up just two hits while walking one and striking out three as the Redskins put three runs on the board in the first and then poured across 12 in the second to take the three-inning 15-0 victory.

Braden Young led the Redskins hitting with three hits, three runs batted in and two runs scored as he powered out a double and triple among his hits. Jayden Garrison and Herzog also each had a pair of hits as the Redskins nicked Ell-Saline’s pitching for 12 hits in just two innings. Garrison, Herzog and Kaden Schafer also hit for doubles while Graham Stephens had three of the team’s nine stolen bases.

For GAME TWO, Little River put two runs on the board in the first and held the 2-0 lead until the fourth when Ell-Saline tied it with a pair of runs. But the Redskins added a run in the bottom of the fourth to re-take the lead and then put four more runs in the scorebook in the fifth to earn the final 7-2 win.

Keaton Richardson and Graham Stephens split time on the mound for the Redskins and between them struck out 12 opponents with Richardson getting give and Stephens getting seven.

At the plate, Grand Stephens was the lone Redskin to get more than one hit though both Dalton Mantz and Trey Rolfs each hit for a double and six different Redskins stole a base in the second contest.

Little River is now 17-3 for the season and were scheduled to close out their regular season schedule on Tuesday at Ellinwood.
