LOGUE, UNRUH RANK HIGH IN EVENTS

MOUNDRIDGE – The Moundridge track/field teams will be entering just two events for the girls and five for the boys, but are looking for solid team points in at least five.

Two of the top opportunities will come from the lone Lady Wildcat that will be competing as Myiah Logue comes out of regionals ranked second in the triple jump and third in the long jump after finishing second and first in each at the regionals.

“We are really looking forward to the chance to compete at state,” noted Wildcat head coach Brian Holloway. “Our long jump and triple jump girls, Myiah Logue has a really good shot at placing extremely high. As a senior I hope she can go out in style.”

For the Wildcat boys, Corbin Unruh won the 200 meters at regionals and is ranked third of the 16 running at state while the regional winning 4×100 meter relay team of Unruh, Garrett Doherty, Landon Kaufman, and Mac Unruh also won at regionals and will be ranked third best coming into the state meet.

Discussing the Wildcat boys, Coach Holloway added, “On the boys side, senior Corbin Unruh has a chance to place in both the 100 and 200 meters which is very impressive considering this is his first real venture into track. He has been mostly playing baseball his last three years and this year he doubled up and did both in the spring. We are also looking forward to all three of the boy relay teams being super competitive. The 4×100 is sitting in third coming out of regionals while the 4×400 is in the top eight and the 4×800 is just ranked out of medal contention going in, but I think they all three have a chance to be up on the podium in the end.”

Holloway concluded his pre-state meet reflections by saying, “The really fun part of all those relays is that three of the guys run all three of them.”
