CANTON – The Canton/Galva volleyball team hosted a powerful Little River team on Tuesday and took a loss in a best-of-5 dual match.

The Lady Redskins were just too much overall for the Lady Eagles as they scrapped out a two-point 25-23 win in the first set.

“We played a great Little River team tonight,” noted Lady Eagle head coach Cloe Hedlund. “They had some strong hitters and ran an efficient offense. We are proud of how the Lady Eagles fought tonight, especially the way we came out in set one and moved around really well. We picked up a lot of balls and kept our offense running in the first set.”

Canton/Galva did not stay as close in the final two sets with Little River winning 25-14 and 25-7.

Coach Hedlund concluded her post game reflections by adding, “Our passing got us in trouble towards the end of the second set and on into the third set. We struggled to set up our offense and so we were on defense for most of the time during those last two sets. We continue to improve on movement and working as a team and we showed a lot of potential in this match. It will be exciting to get back out there on the court in practice this week and keep working towards a win.”

Next up for the Lady Eagles will be a trip to Goessel on Saturday for the Goessel Invitational.
