KDHE REPORTS TWO LOCAL SCHOOLS

MCPHERSON – According to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), a Covid-19 cluster is considered when a facility produces more than five (5) positive cases in a period of 14 days.
Using this definition, the KDHE released their weekly cluster listings on Wednesday, and it now shows 31 active clusters in K-thru-12 schools, including one within McPherson County. The overall total is an increase of 10 over the previous week.
Lincoln Elementary School in McPherson is now on the cluster listing due to six (6) positive case tests within the past 14 days.
Also finding themselves on the KDHE listing of clusters is the McPherson College Women’s Soccer team as they also have reported six (6) positive case tests within the past 14 days.
Another school on the listing is Hesston Middle School in Hesston as they reported 13 positive case tests within the past 14 days.
Overall, the 31 active clusters in K-thru-12 schools in Kansas account for a total of 179 cases.
Since last Friday, September 3, the KDHE newest reports shows Kansas having recorded 5,727 new Covid-19 cases, 63 new deaths, and 142 new hospitalizations.
