HESSTON – Four Elyria Christian cross country runners ran on Thursday at the Hesston Invitational and even came away with a medal.

Londyn Olsen, running her first high school cross country race, managed to medal by finishing 20th in the freshman girls Class 1-2-3A division with a time of 30:27.60.

Both Grady Bearly and Robert Christin represented the Elyria boys in the freshman Class 1-2-3A division, with Bearly placing 42nd with a time of 25:05.90 and Christin running a 27:24.10 to finish 57th.

Ethan Unruh was the lone Eagle upperclassman running and he placed 50th in the junior boys Class 1-2-3A race with a time of 28:30.30.

“It was encouraging for Londyn (Olsen) to end the day with a medal in her first high school race,” said Eagle head coach Philip Hinman. “We have a lot of work to do in order for us to get our times down, but it is nice to have some official times with which to work with to help with our pacing in practice. I’m excited to see where we go from here.”

Next up for the Elyria cross country team will be a meet at Buhler next Thursday, September 16.
