MCPHERSON – Though the number is still high, McPherson County did take a step back in number of new cases for Covid-19 as the Tuesday report from the McPherson County Health Department showed just 92 new cases in the past week, which is a bit better than the 124 from the previous weeklong report.

This number means that to date, McPherson County has had 3,992 reported positive test cases for Covid-19. This means the county has reported 456 new cases in the past five weeks, an average of 91.2 new cases per week.

Only six individuals are currently listed as being hospitalized which is a drop in numbers by two. To date, 171 county residents required hospitalization.

One good point, the County had no recorded new deaths due to Covid-19 in the past week, leaving the total number of deaths for the County at 89.

Of the new cases, close to half came from the ages of 0-29, including 24 new cases under the age of 17 and 21 new cases ages 18-29. Both the ages of 40-49, and 60-older recorded 17 new cases.

According to the latest report there are 3,789 recovered cases and 114 currently considered active.

As for the vaccination rate of McPherson County, it still sits well below 50% of those eligible at 45.6% though it is up .7% since a week ago. Those over the age of 65 have had 83.0% vaccination rate while those ages 12-64 have been vaccinated at a rate of 53.3%.
