SOLOMON – The Elyria Christian volleyball team finished third on Saturday at the Solomon volleyball Tournament.

The Lady Eagles started out the day with a three-set loss to Ell-Saline (21-25; 9-25; 13-25). Ryland Hawkinson recorded 12 digs, and four blocks in the match while Alexus Swenson matched her with 12 digs as well.

Elyria turned things around in the second match of the day, winning over Tescott in three sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-16) as Hawkinson again had a strong match by getting 13 digs, seven blocks and seven kills. Macy Reiff led the Lady Eagles with 17 digs.

In match three, the Lady Eagles lost to Herington 12-25, 16-25 despite Hawkinson getting nine digs, eight blocks and six kills.

Elyria closed out the tournament with a three set victory over host Solomon (25-9, 17-25, 25-18). Hawkinson recorded six kills, six blocks and 12 digs. Kylee Penner had six kills and a pair of ace serves while Swenson recorded 13 digs.

Next up for the Lady Eagle Spikers will be on Tuesday when they travel to Little River to battle with Little River, Goessel and Canton/Galva.
