MCPHERSON – On Tuesday, the McPherson Middle School girls tennis team hosted Salina South and played with near total domination as they hammered the visitors for an 18-3 victory.
In singles, the Junior Lady Pups won 12 of 14 matches including the first five without giving up a single point. Those with shutout wins were Maryn Sandbo, Brodie Kuhn, Avery Eveland, Erin Olsen, and Avery Unrh.
During the doubles competition, McPherson played with the same aggressiveness and won six-of-seven matches including three more in shutout fashion.
“It was another great night of tennis,” explained Junior Lady Pup head coach Paul Reichenberger during his post-game reflections. “The girls played their best tennis of the year tonight and now we have won several duals in a row which gives us a lot of momentum going into Monday’s big tournament at Maize South. This tournament is the best competition the girls will play all year so the rest of this week will be important as we gear up for it.”
The McPherson Junior Lady Pup tennis team will be back on the courts on Monday when they go on the road to play in the Maize South Tournament before returning home to host Andover next Tuesday, September 21.
